Securing a large-scale VPC cloud migration
As the business data and insights provider accelerated its shift to GCP to enable agility and scale, the company had clear objectives for a successful migration.
- Manual scaling unfit for global operations.
- Legacy backhaul design created inefficiency.
- Regional silos slowed globalization.
- Complex compliance landscape across regions.
“We knew we were going to use Palo Alto Networks Software Firewalls because they’re the standard and the best...We’re able to scale them horizontally so as a region scales, we can scale the firewalls and control access in and out.”

Standardized, cloud-native security to support global scale.
To support its migration to GCP and secure thousands of application VPCs, the global business data and insights provider standardized on Palo Alto Networks Software Firewalls as its global default. Guided by prior proven success and a CISO mandate for best-of-breed security, the company selected Palo Alto Networks to unify operations, simplify scaling, and eliminate backhaul dependencies.
The firewalls are deployed directly in the cloud using Terraform automation, managed instance groups, and Palo Alto Networks-maintained GitHub repositories, enabling scalable, infrastructure-as-a-code deployments across regions. This model provides consistent ingress, egress, and East–West enforcement within GCP, while replacing hardware firewalls and competitor appliances in Europe. Strong account support, including an embedded resident engineer, further reinforced adoption and ensured a smooth global rollout.
Architectural Requirements
“Our CISO supported Palo Alto Networks because of the protections and logging it delivers. Our CTO reinforced the decision, emphasizing Palo Alto Networks is our global standard.”

Advancing cloud-native security through partnership and innovation.
As the business data and insights provider advances its global cloud migration, it is investing to keep its security architecture consistent, agile, and ready for future workloads across regions.
